After weeks of testing (mostly on myself in my bathroom), I’m excited to finally launch the Blue Tansy Calm Gentle Exfoliating Soap. This small-batch 3-oz oval bar is designed for gentle daily cleansing that supports calm, balanced, comfortable skin.
Here’s what went into it and why each part matters.
The Triple Butter Base: Rich, Velvety Hydration
We use a high-quality melt-and-pour base enriched with:
- Mango Seed Butter — Lightweight, fast-absorbing, and rich in stearic and oleic acids. It helps soften skin and provides a smooth, non-greasy feel.
- Coconut Seed Butter — Contributes gentle cleansing properties while supporting skin barrier function and leaving skin feeling soft.
- Shea Butter — Packed with fatty acids, vitamins, and phytosterols that help lock in moisture and soothe dry or sensitive skin.
Together, these butters create a creamy lather that cleans without stripping — ideal for normal to combination skin that still craves comfort.
The Essential Oil Blend: Targeted Flower Power
Blue Tansy Essential Oil Prized for its high content of chamazulene (which gives the oil its signature deep blue color). Chamazulene is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound that helps calm visible redness and irritation. Other key components like sabinene and camphor further support its soothing reputation in skincare.
Lavender Essential Oil Its main active compounds are linalool and linalyl acetate. These give lavender its well-documented ability to help reduce redness, support skin comfort, and provide mild antimicrobial benefits — making it one of the most versatile essential oils for daily use.
Chamomile Essential Oil Chamomile shines thanks to α-bisabolol, chamazulene, and the flavonoid apigenin. α-Bisabolol is especially valued for its soothing and skin-calming properties, while apigenin acts as a natural antioxidant that helps protect skin cells from oxidative stress. It’s particularly gentle on sensitive or reactive skin.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol) Added as a natural antioxidant to help protect the skin from free radical damage and support the overall stability of the bar.
Gentle Exfoliation
A whisper of white kaolin clay helps draw out impurities, while finely ground poppy seeds provide light physical exfoliation. The result is skin that feels polished, soft, and refreshed.
Realistic Expectations
This soap is formulated to be a daily calming cleanser that supports healthy skin function. The ingredients have promising traditional use and scientific backing for soothing, moisturizing, and helping reduce visible irritation. Results vary from person to person, and consistent gentle care usually brings the best outcomes.
How to Use It
Lather gently between wet hands and massage onto face or body. Rinse well. Use morning or night. Store the bar in a cool, dry place between uses to extend its life.
